West African Research Center (WARC)

Missions

The WARC aims to promote exchanges and high-level research, between West African and US academics. It also aims to encourage research in West Africa, but also for West Africa. Thus, since its inception, the institution now under the direction of Professor Ousmane Sene, managed to forge an identity in the sub-region by achieving together with imminent scientists around common issues.

The WARC is also active in several activities including the organization of international conferences, research programs, round-table to publish the result of research, lectures and workshops led by researchers or local writers. The center also offers an annual basis fellowships to West African academics. They help the American researchers in Senegal and in West Africa. They are also active in sponsoring student internships and postgraduate serves as host institution for students, professors and American groups who come within the framework of study abroad programs.

The Center of West African Research also controls several US programs and projects whose latest is the YALI, an ambitious project of US President Barack Obama on youth leadership in West Africa.
