Biography

Graduate of the École Supérieure (Esp) in Dakar in 1977, Mamadou Dia works in the urban water sector since the yardstick of his career. He has 35 years of experience in water management, 17 of the Senegalese Water (Sde) where he held the chair of General Manager between 2012 and 2014, having been Deputy CEO for 10 years. Before taking office at the Sde Mamadou Dia served in several management positions at the National Society of Senegal Water Exploitation (SONEES). Considered one of the leading experts of urban water in Senegal, Mamadou Dia puts his experience for the continent, making, from 2006 to 2012, the presidency of the African Water Association (Aae). It is also the only African hitherto member of the Executive Committee of the International Water Association (Iwa). To top this rich career, Mamadou Dia was given two new senior positions internationally. First, the International Association of Private Water Suppliers (Aquafed) based in Paris, he took the chair, and then integrates the powerful Eranov group, which has as main subsidiaries in Africa, the Sde (Senegalese waters ) Sodeci (Coast Ivory water Company) and Cie (Ivorian electricity Company), the Ciprel (Ivorian Company for electricity generation). In politics the former mayor of Demette now belongs to the presidential majority. It has, moreover, been top of the list of the grand coalition Benno Bokk Yakaar (Bby) during the municipal and departmental elections. He is chairman of Podor County Council, in the region of Saint-Louis.
